Description

Horn Papers were a genealogical hoax containing falsified historical records relating to the Northeastern United States from (1765 to 1795). They were published between 1933 and 1936 by William Franklin Horne (1870?1956) of Topeka, Kansas, and presented as Documents of his great-grandfather Jacob Horne and other members of the Horne family. The apparent find raised the confidence of members of the Greene County (Pennsylvania) Historical Society, who sponsored the reissue of the papers in Book Form. In 1945 these papers were published as a three-volume set entitled The Horn Papers.
