Description

It is the narrator and purported author of a cycle of epic poems by the Scottish poet James Macpherson, originally published as Fingal (1761) and Temora (1763), and later gathered under the title of the poems of the Ossian. Macpherson claimed to have collected textual material in Scottish Gaelic, from ancient sources, and that this work was his translation of this material. Ossian is based on Ois?n, son of Fionn mac Cumhaill, a legendary bard in Irish mythology.
